I promise not to go off on a tangent but to say that everyone in our country is one step away from medical bankruptcy is an understatement! I am incredibly lucky to have good health insurance...but even with my good health insurance the doctors appointments became overwhelming. I like to think I'm a healthy person (at least prior to all this). I would go for my yearly physical and see my neurologist twice a year. Besides for my never ending foot injury I hardly went to the doctors for anything else. On January 16, I acquired more doctors then I could handle. I had my neurologist, my oncologist, a radiation oncologist, a psychiatrist and psychologist, I was still seeing my orthopedic (I'd be discharged a month after my diagnosis), my physical therapist, dermatologist and I think that's it. The first month to month and a half I was at the doctors every other day. After 6 weeks I was looking at my next scans which started more appointments. It was overwhelming and difficult to keep them all straight. my family made sure that i never went to an appointment alone. Weather it was for routine blood work to to see Dr. Piper. I am fortunate enough that from first thought the ball moved very quickly for me. Others aren't so lucky. I am fortunate to know that my insurance covers a big chunk of the medical bills. I am fortunate that I was able to find additional resources to help pay for my medication. It's costing someone someplace 666 dollars a day to keep me alive 😂. I remind Bryan that I am worth every penny. The retail price for my Tagrisso is $20,000 a month. With insurance I would have had to pay $20,000 a year. With my insurance that goes down to $ 4500/month. My expense are not nearly as much...
