How it all began

September of 2022 was when my chronic headache began. Looking back, I had symptoms over the summer but brushed them off. The headache was different, I couldn't shake it. I had been followed by a neurologist so a call to him got the ball rolling. We tried changing my medications, otc medications, rescue medications but nothing worked. I was taking multiple otc throughout the day just to make it through the day. A MRI was scheduled for mid September with a followup two weeks later. I wasn't nervous at all and figured the mri would show nothing major. I went back in and my neurologist assured me that it appeared normal but he wanted to followup in 6 to 12 months. There were some lesions but nothing of "concern".

Around this time I started having back pain when I breathed, went over bumps while riding in the car. I couldn't shake them. I eventually decided that I needed to get a second opinion for the mri results. The problem was it would be a good month before anyone could get me in. When I finally had my appointment the nurse practitioner ordered another mri (again it was a month out). January 12th, 2023 was the day my mri was scheduled for. Although I had anxiety I was confident that it would come back as nothing.

January 13th my day started out as normal. I went to work, picked up Baelor, hung out at my mom’s and eventually started to make my way to the bus stop to get Trent. The call came in just before 3:00 ~ I had just turned on to Brickett Street when my phone rang. I answered on speaker not worried about what Baelor would hear. The doctor asked me if I was in a safe place that we could talk. He told me I needed to pull over, at which point he told me that my mri had come back with lesions on my brain... I had cancer but they didn't think it had started in my brain.
