What a whirlwind two weeks it’s been! The first weekend in December I wasn’t feeling so hot. I slept a lot figured it was a side effect of the meds. I have a mri on that Friday (which came back stable). Saturday and Sunday Bryan was off so I napped multiple times. Monday I got up for work and knew I couldn’t drive myself but also knew it was the last week of open enrollment so I needed to be there. Mom to the rescue with a ride to work and mil to the rescue with a ride home.
Monday afternoon I had talked to my oncologist and they wanted to run some blood work make sure everything was good. Tuesday I have no idea what happened or how I got anywhere. I remember calling my mom and telling her I couldn’t get to her car and she should cancel my appointment. Which clearly wasn’t an option. They did some blood work and found my potassium levels were low. Off to get an infusion-4 hours that I slept through. I’m pretty sure I slept more than I was awake on Tuesday. Monday the mouth sores had started. My tongue, gums everything was swollen. I couldn’t eat drink without pain. My oncologist had prescribed magic mouth wash which really is magical!!!!
Wednesday was a better day. I still slept most of it but felt like I was making progress. Thursday I went back for more blood work and learned my potassium was still low but not as low. This time I only needed half a potassium infusion. Friday and Saturday were a blur of naps, mashed potatoes, and pink drinks. Saturday night we decided I needed to be seen. I was scared I was going to be hospitalize. My biggest fear.
I made an appointment for Sunday morning. My mom and sister took me. I was tested for everything under the sun and everything came back negative. No real reason for the extreme fatigue. I was told plenty of rest and fluids and if I got worse to go to the emergency room. they thought I might have hand foot mouth and that would be the sores. Monday was a day of rest.
Monday night my sister from Maryland came up to help watch me. Tuesday I had a pet scan in Burlington. (Results are mainly stable-my lymph nodes lite up but they think that’s the infection I am fightin, my lungs were a little brighter, and I have a spot on my ovaries).
Wednesday I went for a ride with my mom and sister. And then napped. Thursday was a two nap kind of day. And here we are on Friday. I slept until 11 this morning. Took a short nap this afternoon when Bryan went to get the kids. And here we are. I’m ready for another nap.
I can’t thank Bryan, my mom, sisters, Bryan’s mom enough! Mornings haven’t been easy but Bryan has been rocking it. My friends and neighbors have been helping with meals which has been hu
a lot of decisions have come out of this. Rooms are getting switched. The stairs are getting to be a bit too much when I am sick. So the new year will be spent cleaning, reorganizing and moving rooms.
