They say the days are slow but the years are fast. I never knew how true it was until Trent was born. Saturday he'll be 9!!! Crazy how fast it has gone by.
I look back at pictures and get teary eyed. My little boy isn't so little anymore. The little boy that once curled up in my lap on a bad day barely fits on my lap anymore. The little boy who would put on my shoes and laugh at how big they were recently stole a pair of my crocs so he could have two pairs. The little boy that I used to be able to carry upstairs I can barely pick up. I don't remember when I stopped having to bend over to give him a hug...now I can rest my chin on his head when I hug him.
The world has been heavy for him the past year (as it has for all of us) but he has done an incredible job finding his way through it. Although there have been days he couldn't find his voice there are more days when he is learning it is okay to use his voice. I hope he always knows that nobody has to be strong all the time. And its okay to show your true emotions.
He is honestly the best big brother there is to Baelor. He is kind, patient and understanding of his brother's needs. Baelor adores the ground he walks on. And wants to do everything Trent does. A daily conversation goes like this. Baelor what do you want for breakfast? Baelor: What does Trent want? (now to teach baelor to use his voice...lol)
This past year he has taken his passion for baseball to the next commitment. He is determined to be the best player that he can be. He has come so far from that first day at t-ball when he hit the bat and ran in circles. He's come so far from the first day of baseball in the fall. I am proud of him for putting his heart and mind into it and not giving up when it has gotten hard.
This year I hope he continues to grow. I hope his personality continues to shine through and he continues to find his voice. I hope he remembers how much Bryan and I love him and how proud of him we are. I hope he continues to make friends wherever he goes.
I hope he always remembers that he is braver than he believes, stronger than he seems, smarter than he thinks and more loved than he knows. Happy 9th Birthday Trent Buddy.
