Let me tell you bout my best friend…

I keep meaning to post but honestly, life is busy.  School ended, summer started craziness started.

A lot has happened in two weeks.  The most noteable was that my best friend from childhood came for a visit.  Addy and I have been friends since 1st grade.  We both moved in the fourth grade and tried to navigate life.  We were pen pals (the old fashion way 😂😂😂), we visited, we called.  As time went on our calls and letters came less often. But when I needed her she was always there.  When I got married she made the trip out, when I had Trent she was one of his first Visitors, when I was diagnosed she was one of the first people I told.  When my days are dark there’s a message from her.  I love her like a sister.  She is part of my family.

The week that school got out the kids didn't have anything planned.  My sister had been visiting for a little over a week.  She was getting ready to head home we didn't have a lot planned.  Wednesday the kids went to my moms to hang out.  Wednesday night my mom texted me about baseball pants and she was up in Seabrook if I needed her to pick me up a pair for Trent.  I assured her we were fine.  10 mins later she texts me that the boys forgot something at her house and she needed to drop it off.  I go to bed early (super early, like I am in bed most nights by 7:00 because I am so tired from work) so I was already in my jammies and in bed.

Just before 8:00pm I hear the garage door open I get out of bed and ask the boys if they want to go out and see Grammie.  Before we could make it my mom and my best friend and her daughter were walking into the house.  Thing is my best friend lives in Colorado!!!  She flew out for a surprise visit!  I talked with her right after I talked to Dr. Piper and explained what was going on.  We messaged back and forth.  I explained that I didn't know how much longer I had that realistically I could have a year-there is no miracle drug out there that is going to cure me.  I knew she wanted to come out but she didn't know when and told me she was working on it and would keep me posted.

That first weekend of school vacation was filled with laughs and memories.  Not just for me but for my boys as well.  We did a late night ice cream trip, we made our way to the Lego store, the kids, Bryan and Addy made their way to the beach (I walked up the board walk but didn't make it to the beach), we had a day of baseball.

I was excited that my boys got to meet Addy, that I got to meet her daughter.  That we got pictures of our kids together.  Probably around the same age that Addy and I were when we first met.   I was excited that Addy took the time to plan this, to come out and see me knowing it was important to me.  I can honestly say that I am one of the luckiest people to have the support and love that I do.

There is still so much more to update on.  But I am going to leave it here for now.  I will try and write another post tomorrow with how the rest of vacation has gone.  Stay tuned.
